It’s time to celebrate!

It’s time to celebrate!

Today, we celebrated turning 3 years old! Since opening on 1 March 2018, we have treated more than 4000 patients from ages 1 right through to 102! Whilst the most frequently performed procedure is cataract surgery, (resulting in a clear and crisp visual improvement from the implanted lens) the facility has also performed a variety of other procedures. These include squint correction surgery, removal of pterygiums, glaucoma procedures, excision of skin lesions and growths along with vitrectomies for retinal conditions.

The five exceptionally talented surgeons, who envisioned this centre of excellence, and the visiting ophthalmologists, all contribute to patients receiving the individualised care that each one deserves. As do the nursing staff, services staff, and each of the teams in the consulting suites. There are 70 individuals, who each bring their unique talents and contribute to the culture of care that the Hospital invests in daily.

The generosity of the Ophthalmologists, and the broader teams, has resulted in 80 patients being treated through the OSSA Right To Sight campaign with the resulting improvement in eyesight. The OSSA Right to Sight Trust is the philanthropic arm of the Ophthalmological Society of South Africa (OSSA). It is a registered public benefit organisation dedicated to ending preventable blindness in South Africa.

The *3.98/4-star rating from patient reviews and their comments are seen as key indicators that the care teams are impacting the overall quality of each patient’s lives.

“I was 100% impressed with the level of service – from the security lady that welcomed me at the front door, to the porter who took me to and collected me from, theatre, and everyone in between. Well done and keep up the excellent work you all do. Thank you.” remarked one patient.

Hospital manager, Allison Deysel, thanked the entire Doctor and Hospital team for the individual contributions made to reaching the coinciding 4000th patient and 3-year milestone and said, “We are grateful for being in a position to offer Expert Treatment and Exceptional Care to the community of the greater Pmb and Midlands area, and beyond. Positively impacting on 4000 lives in the past 3 years is a privilege and we thank the patients for trusting us to care for their eye and eyesight”.
